Welcome to another “face of ACS”, an interview series starring ACS Volunteers and their journey in serving the non-profit community.
Belinda Chan, Founder and Managing Partner of Creative Consulting Group, has been in the public relations and branding industry for more than 20 years. During this time, Belinda has worked with a wide range of primarily corporate clients to enhance their branding to the next level. Prior to becoming a public relations professional, Belinda was a journalist after graduating from the Chinese University of Hong Kong School of Journalism and Communications.
What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?
Energetic, professional, and approachable.
Please share with us your volunteering journey so far and your motivation for volunteering with ACS.
I was introduced to ACS two years ago by a friend of Jean Lau. That first time, I volunteered as a speaker in one of the ACS story-telling workshops. I have been in the public relations profession for more than 20 years. During my professional life, I have seen NGOs struggle to utilize their limited resources to the fullest and engage with their target audience groups on a sustainable basis. This is why I think the initiatives by ACS are very meaningful.
After my first round of collaboration with ACS, I volunteered to help on an on-going basis for this year’s JC Engage program by ACS. The key reason to do so is because I genuinely believe that the objectives of such a meaningful program should be made better-known and understood by a wider public audience. By helping in media engagement and social media strategies, I hope I have brought some value to the promotion of the project.
From your volunteering experience with ACS so far, what would be your 3 top tips to those who have just joined the ACS Volunteer Community?
My volunteering with ACS has been on strategic long-term planning and promotion. Summarizing from that perspective and from my own experience, I would say that the 3 top tips would be:
- Never cease to think out of the box and make new suggestions which may benefit the programs.
- Always strike a balance among promotions of the various initiatives by ACS throughout the year.
- Make full use of existing/ previous materials to provide more visuals especially for digital promotions.
Thank you Belinda!
