JC ENGAGE Video Storytelling Winner – Agency for Volunteer Service

Why did AVS decide to join the JC Digital Exploration, Video Storytelling series program?

We believe that telling meaningful stories is a powerful way to send a message to our audience. As an organization mobilizing volunteerism, we have a lot of heart-warming stories to share. We wanted to learn more about conveying our thoughts through a story and sharing it with our stakeholders. That is why we applied and joined this program.

What are the key takeaways that you received through this program and what is the most valuable part of the process?

We were eager to join because it seemed like a good opportunity to learn about videos and stories. From going through the process, we found that we benefited each step of the way and became a lot more informed about storytelling and creating videos. Not only did we learn how to tell stories, we also learned about the whole process of creating videos and how it brings stories to life.

Any message that you would like to send out to your audience?

The Agency for Volunteer Service was founded in 1970 to promote sustainable volunteerism for building a caring community. The organization forms partnerships with all sectors of the community to provide value added and quality volunteer service. While the organization mainly serves as a hub to connect those who wish to volunteer with organizations requiring the services of volunteers, it also offers other services such as training courses and professional consultancy on volunteering, otherwise known as “Hong Kong Institute of Volunteers” as well as a resource platform, “Volunteer Link”, with publications and reference materials produced for good practices of volunteer service management. Through its video, AVS would like to send the message that “a small change can make a big impression and long-lasting imprint to your lives. Everyone can volunteer!”
