Get to Know Charities: Light On Charity

Light On Charity works with Edventure Nepal, a children’s home, and other community organisations in South Asia to provide disaster relief, while nurturing cultural exchange and improving local children’s access to education through fundraising and school rebuilding projects. Its mission is to inspire positive transformation in physical, mental and psychological well-being by promoting inner connection with oneself and harmony with others.

After an earthquake in 2015, Light On Charity led volunteers to distribute over 8,000 kilograms of relief supplies to Nepal, benefitting more than 730 local families in Gorkha. From 2016 to 2019, Light On Charity also rebuilt the Shree Jateshwor Secondary School and Shree Ganga Milan Secondary School in Lamjung with the support of corporate volunteers and university students from Hong Kong.

Going forward, Light On Charity plans to:

  • Develop a professional network and services in Hong Kong;
  • Raise HK$500,000 to build a hostel for Nepalese children to go to school easier; and
  • Seek funding resources to expand and sustain infrastructure in Nepal.

The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) shares the same goal by not only providing physically rehabilitation service, but also focusing on disease prevention, health promotion and health-risk factor assessments.
