Get to Know Charities: The French Chamber Foundation

The French Chamber Foundation is a charitable organization launched in 2015 by the French Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. Its program, “Make It Work HK” (MIW), aims to  empower the working poor by providing them with the tools to improve their well-being and livelihood. Job skills training, job matching, counselling, as well as mental support are all services that MIW provides in order to tackle the root causes of poverty in HK — which the Foundation believes lies in employment.

The current economic climate has had an adverse impact on fundraising efforts for MIW. Covid-related social distancing restrictions have also meant that social workers and frontline staff have  not been able to provide  face-to-face job skills training or job counselling, and MIW services have been limited to online training.  French Chamber Foundation is now working hard to be able to, once again, offer job opportunities  to those most vulnerable.
