Premiere Performances of Hong Kong Ltd
Mission: Premiere Performances brings internationally celebrated artists and the world’s brightest rising stars to Hong Kong for solo recitals, chamber music and community outreach, building a vibrant local arts scene and inspiring audience members of all ages with performances that are accessible to all. Premiere Performances is sparking a musical movement. We want to enliven the imagination of Hong Kong audiences through extraordinary performances, inspire those who play to pick up their instruments and play with joy and love, and enable those who listen to have a concert experience like no other.
Beneficiaries: We believe that everybody, regardless of social class, education, ethnicity, age or language, will be moved by an exceptional musical performance, and we have programs aimed at all demographics of our society.
• Cover a budget shortfall of HKD 2,500,000
Top 3 challenges:
• Fundraising: Corporate sponsorship has disappeared; it’s difficult to fundraise from individuals when our activities are curtailed. 40% of our funding comes from a Government matching grant. Without sufficient sponsorship/donations, we won’t receive the maximum grant amount, thereby facing a substantial shortfall.
• School suspensions/venue closures: With schools suspended and concert halls closed since January, all concerts between February – June 2020 have ceased. We pivoted to digital streaming but it’s impossible to experience the thrill of a live music performance online.
• Social distancing measures: When concerts resume, income from ticket sales will be drastically reduced as venue capacity will only be 50%.
Impact on beneficiaries:
Premiere Performances presents 100 events per year reaching over 25,000 people, including 15,000 students. We believe that everybody, regardless of social class, education, ethnicity, age or language, will be moved by an exceptional musical performance, and we have programmes aimed at all demographics of our society.
